A Long-expected Party
When I approached retirement last year, some of my kids asked what I wanted for a retirement present. I said “I want everyone in the same place at the same time.” By “everyone” I meant all my kids and grandkids. The total of that is 33 and climbing.
And they made it happen. Our daughter Hannah took the lead and found an AirBnB in Coldspring, Texas with three houses on the same property. Even that wasn’t really enough, but when you added in Phoebe (our van) and Johnny and Robyn’s house, which was nearby, it just sufficed.
The result was a rollicking and deeply satisfying 4th of July weekend gathering. It was so good to see everyone, and even better to see everyone interacting with each other. Gail and I are deeply blessed to have kids and grandkids who love and enjoy each other and we praise God for his undeserved favor toward us.
Below is a group shot of the whole family, followed by a 30 second video of the group gathered in the main house. Last you’ll find a slideshow with more pictures for those who are interested. I hope you’ll enjoy them and join us in giving thanks to God.
BTW, At the end of the weekend we encountered Hurricane Beryl. I’ll do another short post about that.
